Walking the South Downs - 27 years of discovery
Footprints of Sussex
Footprints of Sussex have been closely involved with country walking for over 27 years. And we love to share all that knowledge by way of our ILLUSTRATED TALKS about the SOUTH DOWNS.
It began in the late 1980's when Keith led the Y.H.A. 'Great Escape' walks along the South Downs Way. When, sadly, the hostels began to close this led to 'self guided' holidays along the trail - something which Footprints continue to offer to this day.
We also organise a programme of local guided walks which take place throughout the year and which are free to join. You can view or download the current autumn / spring 2017/18 programme by clicking here.
As you might expect, there have been many adventures during our 27 years of walking. Perhaps most exciting were the Inaugural Walk of The Downs Link; the opening of The Serpent Trail; the creation of the West Sussex Literary Trail; The year-long Walk 2000; the New Lipchis Way; guided tours of Amberley Castle; countless walks published in 'TASTE' and other magazines; our book 'Walks for All Ages' and - since 2001 - the Annual South Downs Way Walk which you can book here.
